#DOTD: Cis-Regulatory Element

27 Sep 2017

Cis-Regulatory Elements (CREs) are genomic elements involved in transcription regulation. They occur in cis to the genes that they regulate; that is, they occur in the same molecule + in close proximity to the respective gene.

Examples of DNA CREs are enhancers and promoters, but CREs also occur in RNA, such as riboswitches.
